With positive results coming from the Montreal Impact’s last two games, the bleu-blanc-noir will look to ride some momentum into Colorado Saturday to take on the Rapids with the right mentality.
Here is the tale of the tape for Saturday’s game:
1. Altitude
The Impact will have to deal with the altitude of playing in Colorado. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen available, which can definitely be a factor for visiting teams.
2. Injuries
Colorado will be without leading scorer Vicente Sanchez. The Uruguayan forward, who has five goals in as many games, is still a few weeks away from getting back into the lineup after injuring his knee on May 3. Midfielder José Mari was back in training on Wednesday having been a late withdrawal from the lineup that faced Real Salt Lake last Saturday, due to flu-like symptoms.
3. Momentum
The Impact have a win and a draw in its last two games played across all competitions, and played well for long stretches in both those contests. With the players and coaching staff vaunting the positives that they can build off of from those two good performances, the team is also managing to build some confidence as it looks for its first league victory of the season.
4. A dilemma of riches
A few short weeks ago, we were asking who would be scoring goals for the Impact as DP Marco Di Vaio was injured and fellow striker Jack McInerney was still trying to find his footing with his new team. Now, Di Vaio has been training at a high intensity preparing for his return, while Jack Mac has scored five goals in his seven games with his new team, including four goals in his last four games. Do we see the two attackers playing alongside one another this weekend?
