9. October 30, 2016: Montreal 1-0 New York – leading the Eastern Conference Semifinals
Knocked out at this stage of the competition the previous season, Montreal was hell-bent on winning its home leg and keeping a clean sheet – which is precisely what happened here.
Tenacious, organized and efficient, the Impact beats the New York Red Bulls by a score of 1-0 at Stade Saputo on a spectacular Matteo Mancosu half-volley. This defeat is the Red Bulls’ first in 21 games in all competitions – and little do they know that another loss is coming already.
