Ultras Montréal collects $685 to buy soccer balls for a good cause

Ultras Montréal Enchères capitaine brassard Bernier

A nice story to kick off the holidays…

David Vidal (photo: on the right) won the bidding for the UM02 10th anniversary captain armband with a bid of $685. The Ultras will use this money to buy some 80 soccer balls that will be given to the Regroupement des Magasins-Partage de l’île de Montréal. The organization will then distribute the soccer balls to needy families in the borough of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.

Midfielder Patrice Bernier met David to give the winner his prize on Tuesday afternoon at Stade Saputo, alongside Eric Chenoix (photo: on the left) of Ultras Montréal.

"It's unbelievable that someone bid so much for an armband," said Bernier, smiling."It's a great idea by the Ultras and the winner receives a very nice frame and gift. But the real winners are the kids who'll receive these soccer balls."

What better way to put a smile on the faces of children during the holiday season!
