This Saturday, July 23, at 7:30pm, the Philadelphia Union (30 pts, 8-6-6, 2nd in the Eastern Conference) visits Stade Saputo. The poster for the game, one that will be crucial toward the standings and a berth for the MLS Cup Playoffs, highlights a player who will have to be sharp to keep opposing strikers at bay: Víctor Cabrera!
Illustrator Jose Guillermo Garcia Sierra depicted the Argentine centre back preparing for a long ball with his left foot. We’ll let him explain his inspirations: “I am a student in visual arts, so I immediately opened Photoshop,” explains the artist. “I love soccer and I like the Impact a lot. I followed the club closely during the CONCACAF Champions League tournament last year and I found pictures of Cabrera during the game against Alajuelense. I had to redo all the gear to match it with this year’s colours. For the background, I took the best picture I could find of the crowd in the stadium that also fit with my image. Then, I played with the picture, changing colour tones, putting effects and adding smoke.”
You can still buy tickets for this game which will celebrate Christmas in July. Also, the IMFC summer keeps on rolling on Saturday on the Stade Saputo turf field starting at 5pm!
