The Impact is getting reinforcements in Dallas indeed.
Head coach Mauro Biello confirmed, after Tuesday’s training session, that Didier Drogba would join up with his team in Dallas, this Thursday, ahead of Saturday’s game against FC Dallas (TVA Sports 2 [pregame show at 8:30pm] & CJAD 800 AM).
Drogba will train twice with the Impact in Texas, Biello said.
“Training sessions are going well,” Biello said. “Every day, we get videos that show what he’s done. I spoke to him today, and he’s doing fine and is excited to join the team. He’s looking forward to be back with us.”
Drogba has been training for a little over a week with the USL’s Sacramento Republic. In the meantime, the Impact has started its season in impressive fashion, winning away at Vancouver and at home to the New York Red Bulls.
Biello is thus convinced that Drogba will enjoy his transition back with his teammates.
“Didier is an important player for us,” Biello said. “We don’t have to change much if he plays. Everyone knows what he can do. We’re waiting for him to be 100 percent ready to rejoin the team, and then he’ll be available. I’ll then make a decision on how he’ll help us.”
