Impact Foundation divides $100,000 raised with five local organizations

Cheques Fondation 2014

In August, the Montreal Impact celebrated its Foundation’s first anniversary with the announcement that it had raised $100,000 for five organizations in the greater Montreal region.

The Impact presented the YMCA Hochelaga-Mercier in August with a cheque to help send children from disadvantaged families in the area to day camp, as well as providing the opportunity for disabled kids with an attendee to attend day camp.

“We are very pleased to be able to help these organizations in Montreal,” declared Joey Saputo, spokesperson for the Montreal Impact Foundation. “We are here to help children in need. Their quality of life has always been a priority and a responsibility of our organization.”

Then earlier this month, the four remaining organizations were presented with their cheques. Below is a brief introduction to each of them:

Project:Au Cœur de l’HLM

In the heart of the HLM allows organizing periods of various activities for children of the housing project, equaling nine blocks of activities per week, animation / intervention with children. The project can also provide parent-child activities. Global development activities enable natural interactions between children. They also offer the possibility for stakeholders to act with youth in order to sensitize them to group functions and positive interactions between each other.

Project:Sportothèque
A Sportotheque is a place where young and old can borrow sports equipment and articles without being obliged to buy. This allows for a second and third chance to recycle sporting goods and equipment as our young people grow up too fast, and these items are still usable! It helps kids try several sports in order to try new experiences, to give them new goals/challenges to achieve or simply for the pleasure of being with other young people and being active.

Project: Projet Ados
The teen project attempts to counteract problems, among others, street gangs, delinquency, learning difficulties and dropping out of school.  This project, through its focused approach, disseminates a positive image of the neighborhood youth who get involved and are engaged in their communities. It includes sporting, cultural, social and outdoor activities that will reach the largest number of young people. In addition to providing a stimulating and engaging environment, the project aims to implement measures to prevent crime and delinquency in a neighborhood where it is greatly needed.
