Impact midfielder Patrice Bernier and striker Marco Di Vaio are set to make Impact history as the first-ever players to take part in the MLS All-Star game, when they take on AS Roma tonight at Sporting Park, in Kansas City (9pm ET, RDS/TSN).
Di Vaio was selected as the AT&T MLS All-Star "In the game" forward when fans around the world scored an impressive 74,000 goals with the Impact forward. After showing his skills off the pitch - beating rapper Macklemore at FIFA 13-, Marco Di Vaio will be able to demonstrate his goalscoring abilities tonight. Some say that the Italian striker - who'll be wearing his usual No.9 shirt- might even be partnering up with Red Bulls striker and All-Star captain Thierry Henry. This should be fun.
Meanwhile, Patrice Bernier will be wearing number 10 tonight -no big deal- and will be the first ever player from Québec to play in the MLS All-Star game. Not bad for the midfielder, who was selected by MLS All-Star head coach Peter Vermes. Perhaps, the Sporting KC head coach liked what he saw when the Impact beat his team at Sporting Park earlier in June and last weekend at Stade Saputo.
Earlier today, midfielder Justin Mapp was selected on the MLS All-Star inactive roster, following a league-wide player vote.
The MLS All-Star game against AS Roma will kick off at 9pm (ET) on RDS and TSN.
