Impact forward Romario Williams joined the Jamaican U23 national team for a friendly versus the Cayman Islands in Montego Bay, on Sunday, winning 4-0 in preparation for the 2016 Olympic qualifier matches.
The Impact 2015 SuperDraft first pick scored the game’s opening goal in the 30th minute and added an assist during the second half.
“Being back in Jamaica and playing in front of the locals was a great experience. We put on a show for the people back home,” said Williams. “We still have a lot of work to do as a team; we haven’t played together for a while, so it was sloppy at times. However, we are familiar with each other as many of us were together for the U17 World Cup.”
Olympic qualifiers begin in July, but the U23 Boyz’ national team head coach Miguel Coley hopes to play some 10 exhibition matches, possibly organizing an international camp before then.
