With the Women’s World Cup set to kick off this Saturday across the country, here is a look at three members of Canada’s national team from our very own backyard.

<b>Josée Bélanger</b><br>
Born in Coaticook, Quebec, Josée Bélanger is a 29-year-old striker who last played professionally with the Laval Comètes in 2014. Member of the Canadian national team since 2004, she helped her country win gold at the 2004 CONCACAF Women's U-19 Championship and at the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Championship. She’s made 30 appearances, including 25 starts, scoring five times for her country. |

<b>Marie-Ève Nault</b><br>
Marie-Ève Nault is a 33-year-old defender from Trois-Rivières. She last played professionally in 2013 and 2014 for KIF Örebro in Sweden. She’s made 67 appearances for Canada, including 47 starts. She finished first with Canada at the 2010 and 2011 Cyprus Women's Cup and won a gold medal at the 2010 CONCACAF championship, which led to her donning the jersey at the FIFA Women's World Cup Germany 2011. She also helped her country win a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics. |

<span class="s1"><b>Rhian Wilkinson</b><br>
The most capped player of the trio, Rhian Wilkinson, from Pointe-Claire, who can play both as a defender and a striker, has been capped 163 times by the Canadian women’s national team, scoring seven goals. Wilkinson won bronze with Canada at the 2007 Pan American Games and gold at the 2011 Pan American Games, while capturing an Olympic bronze medal at London 2012. In addition, she’s been part of three straight World Cup tournaments. As a professional, Wilkinson was named to the 2003 W-League All-Star team and the 2004 W-League Championship All-Tournament team, while winning the W-League scoring title in 2005 with 13 goals.</span> |
