MONTREAL – Defenders Laurent Ciman and Ambroise Oyongo as well as midfielder Johan Venegas have been called by their respective senior national teams for international matchups in September.
Ciman will rejoin the Belgian selection for two Euro 2016 qualifying games. Belgium, who currently sits in second place in Group B after six games, will face Bosnia and Herzegovina at King Beaudoin Stadium, in Brussels, on September 3, before meeting Cyprus at GSP Stadium, in Nicosia, three days later.
Since 2010, Ciman has been a regular with the Belgian national team. He was also on the roster for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He’s played a total of nine games so far, including four qualifiers for Euro 2012.
Oyongo will also represent Cameroon for its September 6 matchup against Gambia, as part of the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualification game, at Independence Stadium, in Bakau.
He has played 10 games with the Lions Indomptables, scoring his first goal on January 20, 2015, in a 1-1 draw with Mali in the African Cup of Nations. He made his debut with the selection on September 6, 2014, against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Venegas, who has scored four goals in 14 games so far with the Costa Rican national team, will play two friendlies, against Brazil on September 5 at Red Bull Arena, in New Jersey, before facing Uruguay, on September 8, at Estadio Nacional, in San Jose.
He made his senior debut on September 3, 2014, against Nicaragua in the Copa Centroamericana, scoring his first career goal in that game before helping Los Ticos win the tournament. He also scored against Panama, Uruguay and Spain. He recently appeared in four 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup games.
